Sandglass Cottage is situated at the top of Salt Pan Well Steps. It is, an old fisherman's cottage dating from the early 1800's.

The name Sandglass Cottage comes from an auction sale of the cottage in 1892.

The cottage provides very comfortable and homely accommodation for up to 6 people. It has kept its period features but has all the modern comforts of the 21st Century. The romantic master bedroom has superb views over the inner harbour towards Swing Bridge and the Abbey itself.

Sandglass is ideally located to access all the attractions of Whitby, but just far enough away from the town centre streets to provide a peaceful break. You can reach the Abbey and St Marys Church (with its infamous 199 steps) by walking straight along The Ropery.
