The tower is a scheduled monument, part of the Abbot's lodging of Buckland Abbey and dates from the early 14th century, the cottage was built around the 16th century. Set in a wonderfully atmospheric and peaceful situation in the Tavy valley, on the edge of Dartmoor, surrounded by sixteen acres of private gardens and fields which are in turn surrounded by National Trust land, Tower Cottage is comfortable and pretty. An area of the Walled Kitchen Garden has been set aside for tenants, with a patio, lawns and seating, and there is usually organic produce available for picking.There is a private tennis court, riding, golf, walking and sailing are all within easy reach. Tavistock, voted best market town in Britain, with all it's markets and interesting small shops, is eight miles away. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring both Devon and Cornwall, with the Eden project only 1.5 hours away.
