Surrounded by a lovely garden with hill lands, on which our cattle and sheep graze, to the back of the cottage and Loch Awe to the front, Barr-beithe Upper is enjoyed by holiday guests at all times of year. With 3 steps and hand rail to the cottage all accommodation is on the ground floor. Barr-beithe Upper comprises three bedrooms, with the flexibility of single or zip-linked beds in room two plus double and twin rooms, bath and shower rooms and a large well equipped kitchen/dinner, lounge and conservatory. Lovely loch views may be enjoyed from the master bed, lounge, conservatory and garden. Blarghour is a hill farm of 2,000 acres of traditional black-faced sheep and Luing cattle on which unrestricted walking may be enjoyed: to the shores of Loch Awe, the Blarghour waterfall, Allt Beochlich waterfall and the ruined settlements at Blarghour and further along the old drove road at Barr-beithe stopping enroute to enjoy a picnic on An Sidhean (enchanted hill with wonderful view). Fishing on Loch Awe (trout, salmon, char, pike and perch) is by permit only and permits are available at the farm. Loch Awe is a fresh water loch 25 miles long. Dotted with islands and 3 castles (kilchurn, Innischonnel and Fincairn) boats may be hired locally from Loch Awe Boats. Ornithology: golden eagle, sea eagle (recently), osprey, divers, oyster-catchers, curlew, snipe, wood cock (winter only), dippers, grouse etc. Within easy reach during a days motoring are: Glencoe, Fort William and Ben Nevis, Loch Lomond, the Trossachs, Dunoon and beautiful Loch Eck, Crinan, Oban and the Isles of Mull, Iona, Islay, Gigha and Arran, while more locally one may visit Inveraray Castle, and an 18th Century jail. Crauchan Power Station and scenic Glen Orchy also merit a visit as do the many beautiful gardens of Crarae, Benmore and Arduaine which are open to the public. Bookings are for full weeks Sat - Sat from end of March to end of October. Short breaks are welcomed over the low season when start/end days are also flexible excluding Christmas and New Year. 30% deposit required to secure booking Gas and electricity are charged before departure Payments by card or cheque
