Tideway

Prices from £285 - £495

Sleeps up to 5

Tideway was built for my grandfather, a local fisherman in 1935. Tideway overlooks the sea and on stormy days spray has been known to hit the front windows! Fortunately this does not make the house cold as it is fully centrally heated and has double-glazing. The living room also has a coal fire, which adds to the atmosphere in the evenings. Tideway offers the following facilities: Outside: Tideway has enclosed gardens front and back and a drive large enough to park 2 cars off the road. Downstairs: Kitchen and porch with electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, spin drier (no washing machine) Dining Room – the table seats up to 6. Sitting Room - accommodates 5 and includes TV, Freeview channels, DVD and video player. Upstairs: 2 bedrooms with double beds 1 bedroom with a single bed Recently refurbished bathroom with bath and over the bath shower. Bed linen is provided at no extra cost. Please bring your own towels. Many of the original features and some of the furnishings have been retained making Tideway a holiday home with character. Many holidaymakers return year after year but there are always some available weeks. As there are no extra costs for heating, including coal for the fire, Tideway is an excellent place for a holiday at any time of year. The change over day is Saturday. Please arrive after 3.00pm and leave before 10.00am on the day of departure. One well behaved is pet welcome. Tideway is a non-smoking holiday cottage. Beadnell is a small village with a post office/shop and pubs serving meals. There is also a fish and chip shop and takeaway - opening times vary throughout the year. Half a mile down the road there is a small working harbour. There is also ”Beadnell Bay”, a sandy beach, with views towards Dunstanburgh castle a few miles down the coast. Tideway makes an excellent base for visiting the surrounding area including Lindisfarne (Holy Island), local castles such as Bamburgh and Dustanburgh and Alnwick Garden. The larger village of Seahouses with facilities such as Barclays Bank and a small Co-op supermarket, is 2 miles north of Beadnell. It has a larger working harbour and offers boat trips (seasonal) to the nearby Farne Islands, famous for their seal and puffin colonies.
