White House Cottage
Prices from £340 - £1070
Sleeps up to 6
Wonderful C17th fishermans cottage, completely rebuilt in 1983 and updated since. The cottage occupies a unique position overlooking this famous, traditional Cornish working harbour. Currently the location for the ITV drama Doc Martin and even more recently the home of the Fisherman's Friends acapella shanty singers. The film Saving Grace and BBC drama Poldark were also filmed here. Nestled into the valley behind the harbour Port Isaac is wonderful example of a pretty Cornish fishing village. White House Cottage is located on the less developed side of the village and, arguably, in 'the' prime location. Just 30m from the lower village, the fish monger, pub, restaurants and shops it is in the perfect position. The cottage has a seating area on the private front terrace & BBQ/al fresco dining area just outside from where you can hear the Fisherman's Friends singing on a Friday evening. The attractive adjacent greenhouse can be used to dine outside whilst keeping off the chill & weather whilst maintaining the fabulous view. The cottage has been in the same family for over 400 years. Port Isaac has, however, changed in that time but still retains the traditional atmosphere of a quintessential Cornish fishing village. Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty and spectacular coastline with excellent beaches, walks, surfing and sailing very near by. A great place to base yourself for a North Cornish holiday with all Cornwall has to offer within about an hour...or simply stay put, relax and watch the world go by. This property offers 2 twin bedrooms (convertable to double) and 1 twin room with bunk & single. The bathroom, with shower, has recently been modernised. The kitchen has all the mod cons and lounge/diner has flat screen TV (Freeview), DVD, CD player and telephone (mobile coverage is poor). There is also a woodburner should you like to visit during the cooler months. WHC now has Broadband Wi-fi. 1 well behaved dog is welcome provided all 'personal greetings' are sorted out and they do not climb on the furniture. Linen for hire (extra £8/person/week) Bath/hand & tea towels for hire(extra £8/person/week) - ie To have linen and towels arranged for you please add £16/person/week to the advertised price of the week you are interested in.
